Air Pollution and Biomarkers
The biological pathways by which particulate matter air pollution stimulate biological changes that underly hard health outcomes are of increasing interest because they add to causal certainty, increase the urgency of reducing exposure and suggest possible interventions. In this webinar we will present work from two research teams, one in the US, the other in China. One has studied the influence of traffic generated ultrafine particles on inflammation in humans. The other has researched PM2.5 effects on adiposity across generations in mice. The combined presentations and resulting discussion will provoke thinking about the multiple ways PM might be driving adverse health effects.

I am professor and chair of my department and have been principle investigator on a series of NIH funded research studies of ultrafine particles from traffic and their association with cardiovascular biomarkers.

Department of Environmental Health, School of Public Health, Fudan University, Shanghai, China
I got my Ph.D from the Ohio State University, USA and now is an associate professor in Fudan University, China. My research focus has been on the toxicological mechanisms and the cross-generational effects of ambient particulate matters including fine and ultrafine particles.
